Llewelyn Davies was appointed in June 2012 to provide architectural design and planning consultancy services and develop three schemes in parallel and seek to obtain full planning permission on the most financially viable scheme.
About the project
The architectural scheme for Commercial Road encompasses three distinct components within a 22-storey building. The first is a serviced apartment block, offering 109 guest rooms with amenities including basement service facilities and plant rooms, a ground-floor reception, a first-floor restaurant, and a luxurious two-storey duplex penthouse crowning the structure. The second is a three-star business hotel featuring 162 guest rooms, similar support facilities in the basement, a welcoming ground-floor reception, a first-floor dining area, and an equally impressive duplex penthouse at the top.

Additional insights
The scheme includes purpose-built student accommodation comprising 133 bedrooms. This section is designed with essential facilities such as a basement plant area, a ground-floor entrance, and bin and cycle storage. It also includes a two-storey duplex penthouse apartment at the apex of the building, maintaining a consistent architectural language across the development.
