Llewelyn Davies has worked with GOSH since 2005 developing its Development Control Plan and the design and delivery of 2 major architectural commissions, comprising the 18,500 sqm Mittal Children’s Medical Centre.

About the project

The first of these, the £90 million Morgan Stanley Clinical Building was opened in April 2012 to critical acclaim from the hospital and patients. This wholly contemporary building was championed by English Heritage, supported by the GLA and delivered an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating, making it one of the UK’s greenest hospitals.

Second phase

The second phase of the project, designed in its entirety by Llewelyn Davies, involves the partial demolition of the old Cardiac Wing, which commenced in 2014. The delivery of this phase in 2017 completed the Mittal Children’s Medical Centre, which houses the whole of GOSH’s acute inpatient areas providing world-class care for children.
