The site was a derelict former industrial wharf at the entrance to Greenhithe Village. Llewelyn Davies was commissioned as planners and architects for the development of a high-density 211-unit residential scheme fronting the River Thames, along with supporting commercial and community facilities and underground car parking.
About the project
The site lies within a floodplain and had to be carefully designed to reflect this. It is also an extremely accessible and sustainable site, being less than a five minutes walk from mainline train services, bus services and a new ‘fast-track’ bus route linking into the wider Thames Gateway area.

Additional insights
The scheme provides a significant amount of high-quality public realm and private amenity space, linking in directly with the adjacent village and character of the area. The development was also subject to intense public scrutiny from a well-informed local population and responds very closely to the Council’s design guidance for the site.
